Coaching With Balls
Objective
To accelerate the development of business coaching capabilities, through assessment & the use of an ‘alien environment’.

Overview
Most of the models and skills used in business coaching have developed from sport. Therefore if you can coach a sport, the skills involved should be transferable to business, even without knowledge of the business? So what about vice versa? Can someone who coaches in business coach in sport? If the skills are the same then the answer is yes.
‘Coaching with Balls’ creates an alien environment of sport and in this program we use golf (no experience of golf is necessary). This removes the managers, coaches or trainers knowledge of their business area. which means they have to rely solely on their skill and attitude to demonstrate an excellent coaching intervention.
The program is based on a typical coaching session; preparation, contracting, coaching, review. Over a number of ‘lessons’ the coach is assessed, receives feedback and has to plan what to do next! Then both coach & coachee have an opportunity to practice, before the process begins again.
There is no doubt this is a challenging environment, but one where accelerated development of the delegates coaching capabilities to drive business performance is the primary objective.
‘If you think you can coach you should try this program. It will probably prove you’re not as good as you think you are. But there is no doubt you’ll be a better coach by the end of the it!’
